It’s been just over a year since I took up the baton of self employment and launched the site. I thought I’d write a few lines of reflection on the journey.
Fungi Safari- mycelial adventures along the River Spey!
On the 20th-22nd September 2013; we embarked on a weekend adventure with forager extraordinaire Mark Williams of Galloway Wild Foods.
The focus of the journey was to discover, explore, sample and enthuse about mycelia and their fruits along the River Spey in prime Fungi season. Our mode of transport was four traditional crafts known as Open Canoes.
We offered our expertise to six lucky adventurers who wild camped, traveling to remote woodland locations along the River and foraging along the way. We had wholesome and physical days, scented with mycelial signatures and hearty meals around the campfire at night.
Muddy Tasters!
Subsoil and soulful cob discovery sessions…
Laura Gamwell and I are very pleased to offer some affordable, practical and enjoyable Cob-building taster sessions that we have dubbed (or is that daubed?!) -Muddy Tasters!
Where men and mushrooms meet…
Some of the best ideas are cooked up around campfires… and this years Hairth O’Knokrach was no exception.
I, like many folk have become completely fascinated by mycelia and have been immersing myself in the subject of late. A longstanding friend, Mark Williams knows a thing or two about the Fungi family, and has been offering his expertise through his company Galloway Wild Foods.
We dreamed up a perfect journey, in prime fungi season; traveling by open canoe through the spectacular Speyside valley.
Talk Tidy…
The Summer has yet to offer much opportunity for reflection but there has been more inspiring encounters on our Hearth Tour than we’ve cared to shake a stick at.
This months inspiration comes from an excerpt from David Abram’s ‘Becoming Animal’; which is proving an excellent accompaniment on our working explorations. Enjoy…
